OUIL502 - Studio Brief 1 - Carles Ballesteros

I found Carles's work on Pinterest when researching Children's book illustration. The thing that first drew me to his work was the colour scheme, I love calm soft and subtle colour schemes that have a pop of colour to create a focal point, like in the image above, where the red of the santa character is a big contrast compared to the soft white and blue landscape colour scheme.
I also thought that the bold shapes he uses would be something that would work with my children's COP book, as it lends itself well to informational illustration.

OUIL502 - Studio Brief 2 - Personal Presence Study Task

1. What should my identity convey about me?
I want to convey that I have a unique sense of humour and enjoy putting this into my work.
I also want my work to be recognisable through the colour schemes I use and how I intertwine this with my interests and what I want to say about myself.

2. Is it actually important to have an identity as an illustrator?
I think that it's important to have a sense of something that makes you stand out, whether its something about your personality or how your work stands out from the rest

3. What could be included in your pack and why?
I definitely need to include business cards, I want to create a box that keeps all the elements of the pack together and is unique, making people want to look in it.
I want to include a comic which explain interesting aspects of my personality and work. The package will focus on my love of pigeons.

4. What am I wanting to achieve by producing promotional items?
I am wanting something physical that is more than just a business card to leave with people so that they remember me and my work, hence why i want the focus of my package to be on pigeons, as I think it's quite a unique selling point.

OUIL502 - Studio Brief 2 - Presentation

In the past I had had bad experiences working in groups, however this time I found that it went well without any real problems. We were all generally at the dedicated meeting times and shared the work out fairly. I think that we worked well together as a group because we all get on, so there weren't many disagreements with ideas. Overall our presentation went really well. We all did our seperate research and Adam was mainly responsible for putting together the presentation, as he is the most organised and precise. I was pleased with the logos and stickers I created and think that we created a concise and well thought out presentation, and also presented it efficiently. If I were to do this presentation again I think we could go for something a bit more creative and try and push the boundaries a little bit more.
